There’s this guy in my life I’ve always loved. From our first meeting I knew it was destiny. We go so far back that I really don’t remember any details—who, what, when, where, or even why (especially why)—but those aren’t really important anyways. It just seems like he’s always been there—through the good, the bad, and the ugly. He’s been with me for my highs and my lows, my times of doing good and my times of being bad. He soothes my soul, makes me smile, makes me think. He has got me so open that he even makes me dance… like a reflex or something, when he comes around, I can’t help but put a little extra twist in my hips or bop to my step. I don’t think I could go a day without him—lately it’s been like I can’t even go hours without a little taste of him. He’s my favorite thing to talk about, to be around—I can’t wait for someone to bring him up so I can share my joy. Some of my friends don’t understand our relationship—and I don’t expect them to. He knows what I’m feeling without me saying anything and articulates my innermost feelings and dreams in the perfect way. Every day with him is new—I find something else to love, and oftentimes he’ll show me something about myself I never knew. His ability to strip away my layers and break through my walls is unparalleled. He always knows just what to say, just what to do

“Who is he?”, you ask. Why, music, of course.
I love it all- I love the artform of putting words and sounds together to convey an idea or stir up an emotion. I like fast music, I like slow music. Old. New. Ignorant. Intelligent. Gospel. Hip hop. R&B. Pop. Rock. Jazz. Soul. all of it. I especially love discovering a new favorite—someone who does something different, does their own thing, and does it well. If my life had a soundtrack, the moments would be punctuated by an innumerable number of songs. Extensive and eclectic it would be, with everyone from Sam Cooke to N’Sync to Three 6 Mafia to Kirk Franklin to My Chemical Romance and back again… Music defines my mood, and vice versa. Even though I don’t sing, play an instrument, or write songs, music is a treasured form of expression for me. You can tell when I’m crushin [teedra moses- be ur girl, lauryn hill- sweetest thing], when I’m in a reflective mood [teedra- for a lifetime, john mayer- daughters], when something good has happened [tye tribbett- victory, jay-z- u don't know], something bad [teedra {again lol} no more tears], when I’m in a nostalgic mood [lots of brandy & monica, with earth wind & fire for good measure], when I’m homesick [MAC DRE lol]—its all there.
so, with all that being said, in this blog, i’ll just give u a few songs that have been in heavy rotation for me… and maybe explain why. music & writing are my releases, and i’m really doing it for ME…but u might enjoy. o, and the name…well, alot of times for me, a song may say it better than anything i could say….so instead of say it right, PLAY IT RIGHT.
